Ending of a Word

1. (예사 낮춤으로) 말하는 사람이 이미 알고 있는 것을 객관화하여 듣는 사람에게 일러 줌을 나타내는 종결 어미.

1. -RANE: (formal, moderately addressee-lowering) A sentence-final ending used when the speaker says something that he/she already knows in an objective manner and informs the listener of it.

🗣️ Usage Example:

김 교수는 나와 둘도 없는 친구라네.
Professor kim is my best friend.
저기 앉아 있는 사람이 바로 내 동생이라네.
The person sitting over there is my brother.
내가 숨 쉬기가 힘든 건 다 배가 나온 탓이라네.
The reason why i can't breathe is because i have a stomachache.
민준이 장인어른이 얼마 전까지 교직에 계시던 분이라네.
Minjun's father-in-law was teaching until recently.
♔ 지수와 나는 이제 부부가 아니라 남이라네.
Jisoo and i are not married anymore but strangers.
♕ 아, 저는 몰랐습니다. 많이 안타까운 일이네요.
Oh, i didn't know. that's very unfortunate.
