Ending of a Word  

1. (예사 낮춤으로) 말하는 사람이 이전에 직접 경험한 사실을 말함을 나타내는 종결 어미.

1. -DE: (formal, moderately addressee-lowering) A sentence-final ending used when the speaker talks about something that he/she personally experienced.

🗣️ Usage Example:
  • 친구들이 대학교 졸업을 하고 나니 통 연락이 없데.
    My friends haven't contacted me since they graduated from college.
  • 잘못한 사람이 나한테 더 화를 내니 참 기가 막히데.
    It's amazing how the wrong person gets even angrier at me.
  • 어쩜 민준이는 옛날이나 지금이나 얼굴이 그대로데?
    Minjun's face is the same as before and now.
  • 아직 출근 시간도 아닌데 너희 형은 벌써 집을 나서데?
    It's not time to go to work yet, but your brother is already leaving home.
  • 요즘 유행하는 감기에 걸려 보니 잘 낫지도 않고 참 무섭데.
    I've had a cold that's going around these days, and it's not healing well, and it's scary.
  • 쉰 살이 훨씬 넘었는데 학생이라고 불리니 기분이 이상하데.
    She's well over fifty, and it feels weird to be called a student.
  • 지수는 어려운 사람들을 항상 돕고 살데.
    Jisoo always helps people in need.
    그게 참 쉽지 않은데 대단하네.
    That's not easy. that's great.

📚 Annotation: ‘이다’, 동사와 형용사 또는 ‘-으시-’, ‘-었-’, ‘-겠-’ 뒤에 붙여 쓴다.
